About the Festival
The Leonard Cohen Festival is a one-day celebration marking the tenth anniversary, to the very day, of Leonard Cohen’s passing, honouring one of the twentieth century’s most singular artists — poet, novelist, songwriter and reluctant prophet. Held at the iconic Bondi Pavilion on the shores of Bondi Beach, the festival brings together writers, performers and scholars for an afternoon and evening of music, words and ideas.
Highlights include a keynote address by Michael Posner, author of the definitive three-part oral biography of Leonard Cohen; the world premiere of a new play by award-winning Australian playwright Timothy Daly; ensemble play readings; lectures and panel discussions exploring Cohen’s enduring influence; and a special live performance celebrating his timeless music.
